India
The exotic travel destinations in India are endless. The Taj Mahal is just the beginning, and definitely worthwhile. First time visitors often stick to the north where you have the opportunity for a wide variety of experiences, including desert forts and palaces in Rajasthan, tiger safaris, the holy Ganges River, the erotic relief carvings of the temples of Khajuraho, and hill stations, tea plantations, and trekking in the Himalaya. South India provides another insight to this diverse country, including ancient Hindu Temples, the serene backwaters of Kerala, and the beaches of Goa. The best time of year to visit is between October and March.
Best Times to Travel
The best weather in India is generally between October and March. In north India, avoid the months of April and May as it can get oppressively hot--120 degrees F (50 degrees C) is not uncommon. In June, the monsoon season arrives and lasts through September, cooling things off a bit, but with daily rain showers. In the south, the monsoon is a bit more complex, with a temporary dry period for most of the month of September, before getting wet again in October and November.
