Laos
Laos is the only land-locked country in SE Asia and shares borders with all of the other countries in Indochina. Lush green rice fields, rugged mountains and gushing waterfalls pepper the remarkable landscape of a country through which the mighty Mekong River flows. Laos has managed to hold on to its laid back culture while rejuvenating nearly lost cottage industries such as silk weaving.
We're Experts! Red Lantern Journeys can arrange tours throughout Laos. In addition to the popular sights, we know the best hotels, experiences, and off-the-beaten-path locations for your tour!

- The 4000 Islands (Si Phan Don) in southern Laos

When to Travel
The cool winter from November to February is the best time for visits due to lower temperatures and less rainfall, but river cruising and waterfalls are more spectacular from June to October.
Visas US and Canadian citizens need a visa to enter Laos. Visas are available on arrival at the Luang Prabang and Vientiane airports, and all other entry points except Nam Heuang Bridge and Veun Kham. The fee is $35 for US citizens and $42 for Canadian citizens, and you'll need two recent passport photos.
