Itinerary  
Day 1: Bagan Take a morning domestic flight from Yangon to Bagan. On arrival, transfer to the Road To Mandalay on the Ayeyarwady River. In the afternoon the guide takes you to into Bagan where over 2,000 temples and pagodas remain on an awe-inspiring plain. Watch the sun setting over a field of glowing pagodas by the river. Return to the ship for dinner. Overnight on board.
Day 2: Bagan Markets After breakfast join your guide to explore some of Bagan's local markets selling wood carvings, fabrics, longis, and rattan goods. See how Myanmar's famous lacquerware is made. Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle or horse-drawn cart and explore this enchanting area on your own. Mid morning, the ship sets sail for Mandalay. On board the guide lectures on the Ayeyarwady River. The ship anchors mid-river for the evening providing a marvellous opportunity to observe the stars. Dinner and overnight on board.
Day 3: Sagaing Arrive at the village of Shwe Kyet Yet after lunch. Enjoy an afternoon excursion to Sagaing considered to be the living center of the Buddhist faith in Burma and famous for its silversmiths who still work in much the same way as their ancestors did. Return to the ship for dinner in the evening. Overnight on board.
Day 4: Maymyo A full day's excursion to Maymyo, a colonial hill station set high in the mountains. Soak up the atmosphere with its cool climate, English style houses, colourful market and beautiful botanic gardens. A typical Shan lunch is taken at a colonial house. Return to the ship for dinner and local entertainment in the evening. Overnight on board.
Day 5: Mingun and Mandalay After breakfast take a cruise to Mingun. Visit the most important sights such as the pretty Hsinbyume Pagoda and the world's largest uncracked bell. Return by ferry for a late lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of the key sights of Mandalay regarded as the centre of Burmese culture and Buddhist learning. Return to Road To Mandalay for dinner. Overnight on board.
Day 6: Burmese Village After an early breakfast visit a local village for a walking tour. This traditional Burmese village gives you the opportunity to discover the Burmese way of life first hand - from farming and handicrafts to spirit houses and tea-shops. Return to the ship for lunch and set sail for Bagan once more. The rest of the day is spent relaxing on board, observing the fascinating local river life glide by from the top deck. An on-board guide lectures on the Myanmar way of life. This evening enjoy a casual cocktail party followed by dinner on board. Overnight on board.
Day 7: Mount Popa A full day's excursion to Mount Popa, a national park and believed to be the sacred home of powerful 'Nats' (spirits). On top of a rocky crag is a picturesque complex of monasteries, pagodas and shrines which can be reached via a winding, covered walkway. Lunch is taken at the Mount Popa Resort. Dinner and local entertainment on board. Overnight on board.
Day 8: Departure After an early breakfast transfer to the Bagan airport for your onward flight to Yangon.
Optional 2 Night Yangon Extension
Day 1: Yangon Upon arrival in the Yangon International Airport you will be met and transferred to your chosen hotel for two nights. Begin your sightseeing tour of Yangon’s city center with a visit to Sule Pagoda. Your guide will accompany you on a short walk by Kandawgyi lake and then take you to see the sunset at Yangon’s spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda. Enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure. Overnight in Yangon. Day 2: Yangon After breakfast at the hotel, the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. We will be happy to arrange a half or full day sightseeing tour to suit your interests. Visit the countryside surrounding Yangon, stopping at Syriam and its pagoda set on a small island in the middle of the river or visit Bago, Burma’s ancient capital. Overnight in Yangon.
Day 3: Departure Depending on your itinerary, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Mandalay to continue on the Road to Mandalay cruise or your departure flight home.

- Download, print, and fill out the Reservation Form for each person.
- Fax the form to us at 206-529-4803, or mail it to:

- Pay a non-refundable $500 per person deposit and we will initiate your reservations.
- Final payment is due 75 days prior to departure.
If your reservation is made less than 75 days prior to departure, the non-refundable deposit will allow us to initiate reservations. Full payment will be due immediately upon confirmation of all hotels and transportation services. If the services quoted cannot be confirmed, alternate accommodation or transportation will be arranged and the price will be adjusted accordingly.
Payments can be made by personal check, bank wire transfer, or credit card. Upon receipt of your deposit, we will initiate your reservations and send you a statement showing your payment. Approximately 4 weeks prior to your departure, we will send you a final confirmation package containing your itinerary and detailed information on the logistics of your trip. Cancellation/Refund Policies
- Cancel more than 60 days prior to departure - forfeit your deposit.
- Cancel between 30 and 60 days prior to departure - forfeit 50% of the tour cost.
- Cancel less than 30 days prior to departure - NO REFUND of tour cost.
- Cancellations must be made in writing and sent via mail, fax, or email to Red Lantern Journeys.
- Refunds will be processed within 30 days of receipt of your written request.
- No refunds are available for unused services or tours during your trip.
