Day 1: Arrive Mandalay
Take a morning flight from Yangon to Mandalay to board the Road To Mandalay on the Ayeyarwady River. After lunch on board, enjoy a guided tour of the key sights of Mandalay, regarded as the center of Burmese culture and Buddhist learning. Visit historical sites including the Kuthodaw temple and the Mahamuni Paya. Enjoy dinner and local entertainment on board in the evening. Overnight on board.
Day 2: Sagaing
After breakfast visit Sagaing, the living center of the Buddhist faith in Burma, famous for its silversmiths who still work in much the same way as their ancestors did. The ship gets underway mid morning for its journey south towards Bagan. The rest of the day is spent relaxing on board, observing the fascinating local river life from the top deck. In the afternoon, your guide will give a lecture on the Myanmar way of life. Enjoy a casual cocktail party and dinner on board this evening. Overnight on board.
Day 3: Bagan
Arrive in Bagan in the morning, where over 2,000 temples and pagodas remain on the awe-inspiring plain. Take a guided orientation tour to introduce you to the most important temples. After lunch you may rejoin the guide to visit the inside of some of the more significant pagodas. Alternatively, you can hire a bicycle or horse-drawn cart and explore this fascinating area on your own. In the late afternoon, go with your guide to watch the breathtaking vista of the sun setting over the plain. Dinner and local entertainment await you on board. Overnight on board.
Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to Bagan airport for your onward flight to Yangon.

An exceptional opportunity to explore lesser-known sights in this colorful, mysterious and endlessly fascinating city. Discover the traditional way in which the 5.4 million people of Yangon - Myanmar’s major economic centre - work, worship and pursue their daily lives.
Day 1: Yangon
Monday: Your international flight arrives in Yangon International Airport and be transferred to your chosen hotel for two nights. Our preferred hotel in Yangon is The Governor’s Residence – set within lotus gardens this hotel is an imposing teak mansion dating from the 1920s set within the elegant Embassy Quarter close to the spectacular Shwedagon Pagoda. Guest rooms and suites are luxuriously decorated with teak furniture, tropical cottons and silks.
Begin your visit with the key sights of Yangon’s city centre with its magical colonial buildings, including the Sule Pagoda which dominates the downtown area and is said to enshrine a hair of Buddha in a golden cask. Your guide will accompany you on a short walk by Kandawgyi lake, the perfect place to take pictures of the Shwedagon pagoda. End your day by enjoying the sunset at Yangon’s spectacular Buddhist centerpiece, the Shwedagon Pagoda. Dinner at leisure either at your hotel or in one of the many restaurants in Yangon.
Day 2: Yangon
Tuesday: After breakfast at the hotel, the day is yours to enjoy at leisure. We will be happy to arrange a half or full day sightseeing programme to suit your interests. Some of our day tour programmes offer the opportunity to see the countryside around Yangon, stopping at Syriam and its pagoda set on a small island in the middle of the river or Bago, Myanmar’s ancient capital. Lunch and dinner by your own arrangement.
Day 3: Departure
Wednesday: After breakfast at the hotel you will be transferred to Yangon’s international airport for your domestic flight to The Road to Mandalay which berths on the Ayeyarwady River.
After completing your cruise and returning back to Yangon and depending on your international flight departure from Yangon, you will be taken either to the airport hotel for light refreshments or to Traders Hotel for lunch and use of a day room/leisure facilities at the hotel. Our staff will advise you accordingly during your stay.

- Pay a non-refundable $500 per person deposit and we will initiate your reservations.
- Final payment is due 75 days prior to departure.
If your reservation is made less than 75 days prior to departure, the non-refundable deposit will allow us to initiate reservations. Full payment will be due immediately upon confirmation of all hotels and transportation services. If the services quoted cannot be confirmed, alternate accommodation or transportation will be arranged and the price will be adjusted accordingly.
Payments can be made by personal check, bank wire transfer, or credit card. Upon receipt of your deposit, we will initiate your reservations and send you a statement showing your payment. Approximately 4 weeks prior to your departure, we will send you a final confirmation package containing your itinerary and detailed information on the logistics of your trip.

- Cancel more than 60 days prior to departure - forfeit your deposit.
- Cancel between 30 and 60 days prior to departure - forfeit 50% of the tour cost.
- Cancel less than 30 days prior to departure - NO REFUND of tour cost.
- Cancellations must be made in writing and sent via mail, fax, or email to Red Lantern Journeys.
- Refunds will be processed within 30 days of receipt of your written request.
- No refunds are available for unused services or tours during your trip.
